Best Time to Take CJC-1295 for Fat Loss & Growth Hormone
Timing matters more for GH secretagogues than for almost any other research peptide — because the entire mechanism depends on the pituitary's sensitivity state, which is directly modulated by sleep stage, insulin levels, and the body's natural GH pulse rhythm. Get the timing right, and the GH release is dramatically amplified. Get it wrong, and the compounds produce far less effect.
GH release from the pituitary is tightly regulated by two opposing signals: GHRH (stimulating) and somatostatin (inhibiting). When somatostatin is high — which occurs during the day and after eating — GH secretagogues have minimal effect because the pituitary is actively suppressed.
During deep sleep, somatostatin tone drops and the pituitary becomes maximally responsive to GHRH and ghrelin signals. This is when CJC-1295 and Ipamorelin are at their most effective — amplifying a pulse that would happen anyway into a significantly larger GH release.
Pre-Sleep (Primary Recommendation)
The dominant natural GH pulse occurs 45–90 minutes after sleep onset — driven by slow-wave (deep) sleep. CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin injected 15–30 minutes before bed amplifies this pulse when it naturally occurs at its peak. This is the highest-leverage timing for maximising total GH output.
Requirements / caveats:
Must be in a fasted state — last meal at least 90 minutes before injection. Carbohydrates and protein elevate insulin, which directly suppresses GH release at the pituitary level.
Morning Fasted (Secondary)
After an overnight fast, insulin levels are at their nadir — ideal conditions for GH release. A morning fasted injection (before breakfast) is a common second daily dose for researchers using No DAC CJC-1295 who want 2–3 pulses per day.
Requirements / caveats:
Inject before eating or drinking anything caloric. Wait at least 30–45 minutes after injection before eating to allow the GH pulse to complete without insulin interference.
Pre-Workout
Some researchers inject before training for the theoretical lipolytic and anabolic benefits during exercise. Exercise itself naturally increases GH release — the additive benefit of peptide-driven GH at this time is less studied.
Requirements / caveats:
Must still be in a fasted or low-insulin state for effective GH release. Post-workout nutrition typically raises insulin — which would blunt GH at that point.
GH directly stimulates lipolysis
Growth hormone activates hormone-sensitive lipase in adipose tissue, releasing stored triglycerides for use as fuel. This fat-mobilising effect is most pronounced during fasted periods.
The GH pulse pattern matters
Research suggests pulsatile GH (sharp peaks and troughs) is more effective for lipolysis than continuous GH elevation. This is one reason No DAC CJC-1295 is preferred — it preserves the natural pulse pattern.
IGF-1 is downstream of GH
GH drives the liver to produce IGF-1, which mediates many of GH's anabolic effects. The pre-sleep pulse is most effective for IGF-1 production as well as direct lipolytic effects.
Insulin is the opposing signal
Elevated insulin essentially turns off GH's lipolytic effects. This is why fasted timing is not optional — it's mechanistically critical for fat loss-oriented protocols.
