    SLU-PP-332 was developed at Saint Louis University as part of research into estrogen-related receptor alpha (ERRα) signaling — a transcription factor that regulates mitochondrial biogenesis, fatty acid oxidation, and aerobic metabolism. ERRα activity mimics many of the gene expression changes triggered by endurance exercise. Researchers identified SLU-PP-332 as a potent ERRα agonist and have been investigating it as an 'exercise pill' — a compound that could deliver metabolic benefits of exercise to those unable to exercise due to disease or disability.

    How It Works

    SLU-PP-332 activates ERRα, driving expression of genes involved in mitochondrial biogenesis (PGC-1α targets), fatty acid oxidation, and oxidative phosphorylation.
